Sales Representative: Inside B2B Sales

Starting as a sales representative, you will work through several levels of responsibility and benefits as you progress your career with Abrasives of Saint Paul.

Executive & Owner, 24 Years

Welcome to Abrasives of Saint Paul. My career started two decades ago. What I loved from day one was the opportunity to advance in the company by my personal growth. I now wear a lot of different hats for the company, and I currently service 80 active customers every month. Our customers are the reason we are here and I love working with them everyday! We do our best to be their best supplier. My goal from day one was to be part-owner in the company, and during my long journey, I've had the pleasure of working with a lot of great people who helped me in business as well as my own personal adventures. I am truly thankful and look forward to continuing that attitude with each and every new hire.


Executive, 11 Years

I started working at Abrasives of Saint Paul in May of 2010. I'm currently an Executive Sales Rep and a Training Manager, and I have an active account base of over 100 customers. The one thing I love about ASP is the people; everyone is always willing to help each other succeed and stay positive while motivating others to be successful. I am most proud of earning multiple trips paid for by the company. Not many companies give away trips but ASP sure does. These trips are available to any sales person that works at ASP. Through hard work, dedication, commitment, and most importantly, a positive attitude, at ASP, anything is possible. Divisional Manager, 18 Years

I started with ASP in March of 2003. I was fresh out of college with no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I had never done sales before, but thought that I would be good at it. I called on an add and came in for an interview. After being hired, I realized that sales is a lot tougher than I thought and I wasn’t very good at it. However, through a lot of hard work and training, I fought through it. Now I am one of the top sales people in the organization and running a division. I found out that in sales, you make your own pay check, which I liked. The atmosphere and people I work with make it easy to come to work everyday and make a good living.


Apprentice, 5 Years

I started at ASP back in May of 2016. At the time, I was working as a personal trainer at a high end health club in the twin cities area. Although I enjoyed the work, I quickly realized that the schedule I had was not conducive to having a family and seeing my loved ones. I was looking for a place where I could have a good career but still have time for my family. I stumbled upon a sports and outdoor enthusiast ad while job searching and decided to go in for an interview. As a guy with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, I wasn’t really sure if sales (I had zero experience and a negative perception of sales) or abrasives were for me since I had no experience. But I looked at people that were successful at ASP and I liked what I saw so I decided to give it a shot. It’s been just over 2 years now, I’m currently an apprentice and I will be a journeyman in a few months. What I’ve found, is that I’ve been able to increase my income each year without asking for a raise, I have every weekend off to do what I choose, I have most holidays off, I get plenty of vacation, I’ve been taught how to do the job by people that have already been successful in the same role, the work environment is a blast and there is plenty of room to progress for those who choose to. This is a great place to work for anyone with a great work ethic, is coachable/willing to learn, has interests in the outdoors and/or sports. I am highly thankful I decided to answer the ad and I consider myself blessed to work for a company that appreciates and takes care of their employees.


Executive, 10 Years

After spending 15 years in the landscape industry, and at the age of 37, I decided to quit my “dead-End” job and try a new career. After several months of frustration looking for a job I finally came upon an ad for an inside sales position with a company that had “opportunity for growth with an emphasis on creating a fun working environment”. Well, that is exactly what I found at Abrasives of St. Paul. Our Motto is “Work hard, play hard” and we do it very well. I started out in 2011 as a trainee with little to no sales experience. After 7 memorable years I have risen to the top Executive Sales level with the company and have sold over $1.7 million in sales. One thing I’ve learned is there is no such thing as a dead-end job at ASP. You have the opportunity to not only build a career but make your own raises year after year as long as you’re willing to put in the work. Now as far as the “Play” aspect goes, I’ll put it like this; if you like hunting, fishing, sports, or anything that has to do with the outdoors, you’ll feel right at home. Bottom line: if you’re self –motivated and looking for a fun working environment with the opportunity for advancement then ASP is worth looking into.


Executive and Division Manager, 18 Years

When I answered an ad after graduating college I didn’t believe it would be the job I'd really enjoy, have a lot of fun at, and eventually retire from. I do now. When I first started at ASP I worked hard, opened new business and began developing customer relationships and growing accounts. I had no intention of growing roots at my first place of employment but wanted to give it everything I had and see where it would take me. I worked my way up the career path from a trainee to a training manager and now a division manager. The work atmosphere here is second to none and some awesome spiffs and great coworkers makes ASP a great place to work; you can't beat when your company sends you golfing, bowling, or going fishing in Canada! I have had a great 15 years here so far and excited to see what the next 15 years brings!!!
